5 Ways To Choose Best Holiday Destination

Are you deciding where to head for your next trip? Confused which place to visit? Choosing a destination is usually one of the most difficult parts. With so many options to visit, its hard to decide one. This blog will help you shortlist your place of choice by few easy stepsBudget- The most important deciding point is budget. Decide how much budget is available per person and how much are you willing to spend for your trip. Depending on your budget, you will understand if that country is within your reach or not! Usually, western countries require a higher budget than Asian countries. Your Interest- The second most important thing after budget is your interest. Are you a looking for a trip which is full of adventures? Or are you going to travel with family and kids? It depends on what you are interested to do on this trip. Many people love to visit museums and castles, and few like to be with nature! So, this could be one of the major deciding factors. Time in hand- Time is also a crucial factor. If you have just 5 days in hand, and you wish to visit 2 countries in Europe, it won’t be feasible. You will have to chalk out roughly how many days you have in hand for this trip and then decide on the destination. Also, the distance or the time taken to reach the country would make your trip super hectic or relaxed. Example- If you just have 6 days in hand and you decide to visit South America from India, it wont be possible due to super hectic travel schedule and jet lag. Weather/Season- From above factors you will roughly get an idea which destination would be suitable for you. Before jumping to conclusion and deciding on the destination, first check the weather and season of the destination. Is it too hot or is it monsoon time? One should know beforehand the best time and season to visit! How safe is the place-Now you must have got 1-2 destinations pretty clear in your head. The last crucial factor is safety. It is important to research a bit on how safe is the place to visit. Also, with the on going Corona Pandemic, it is good to research if there are any lockdowns or what are the quarantine rules of that country. These aspects will help you decide which place would be best for your holiday!Hope you have a great holiday 🙂  Like this article? Facebook Twitter Email WhatsApp Pinterest

How To Get Vat Refund On Airport?

Tax Refund

Tax refund is fundamentally getting a refund of the Tax/VAT amount charged on your purchased goods, only if you   are a non-resident of the country. It is essentially an attempt to encourage tourist expenditures while visiting their country  Here are some basics of tax refund one should know – Taxes may vary and range from 10% to 20% depending on the country you visit Tax refund can be provided by only the shops having necessary permissions and usually display a sign or board showing “tax refund” One can claim the amount only if the minimum purchase amount is crossed and it varies for different countriesExample- In Japan you can claim tax refund only if your purchasing of goods exceeds 5000 Japanese Yen. Don’t consume the products during your stay as they must be unused and sealed. Example- If you buy and use a perfume during your stay and it meets rest of the norms of the reimbursement process, you cannot claim a refund for this used product To claim the refund, one should buy goods on the same day, from the same shop and in one bill. You cannot claim and combine bills from different shops and purchased on different days to add up the total amountExemption- In some countries like Singapore, some department stores have a separate “Tax Centre” usually on the top floor or the basement where you can sum up all the bills of shopping done on the same day Typically, tax refund is applicable only for tourists or short-term visitors. Work visitors and long-term visitors don’t fulfill the requirement Carry a copy or your passport and copy of your country’s address proof with you all times You can claim tax refund only at airports and at the borders of exit and entry.Exemption- Some countries like Taiwan, immediately process the refund amount in the shop and refund it to you in cash or on your credit card to encourage more spending. VAT refunds don’t apply for hotel Stays, food expenditures and some products This process may sound tedious and tiring and you might think of giving a skip to collect the refund, but trust me it is worth the efforts Here is a step by step guide to collect your Refund- Step 1- Shop all products in one bill, from same day and same shop Step 2- Provide passport copy and your visa proof and the shopkeeper will create a receipt which will include all your details Step 3 – Check the receipt for the total bill and the refund amount you will get back Step 4- While packing make sure the items are in your cabin bag, and if not possible make sure they are all in one check in bag with ease of finding them Step 5 – At the airport before checking in your luggage visit the tax refund counter/local customs office and present your passport and all receipts Step 6- The customs officer may demand to view all your goods for which you are claiming the tax refund *Usually they check only luxury items, electronics and high price items in countries which are strict * In many countries, this process is electronic if your purchases are clothes, shoes etc where one has to just scan all the receipts and the passport in the machine after which he will get a new receipt mentioning the total refund amount Step 7- A receipt with a stamp will provided after showing respective items   Step 8- Now you can check in your luggage. After security check you will find one counter mentioning tax refund where you should head and show the receipt collected in Step no 6 Step 9- The officer which check all details and will ask for your credit card to refund the amount. Some countries also provide cash, and they will ask which currency you need refund in. Step 10- The office will convert the amount in the required currency and hand over to you and ask you to sign a document stating the collection refund AND ITS DONE. I highly recommend tourists and visitors should always take benefit of Tax Refund and save your money.  NOTE- No Custom Officer’s Stamp= No Refund Like this article? Quick Hacks To Help When Travelling Abroad

Spend more time in fewer places, don’t rush- People aim at covering all the sights and not spending enough time at each sight, as a result only rushing and running to each site. Would advise to rather enjoy ever place than just running around Don’t forget to get your tax refund/vat refunds –*Click here on Steps to your collect Tax Refund at the Airport * Avoid buying souvenirs at airport- Airports usually are thought of being *Tax Free* and hence cheaper. But this is not the case, and souvenirs are usually expensive on airports. So, buying them in the city is the best choice. Always keep some handy cash in local currency- This is definitely for unforeseen situations and also few local markets in many countries accept only cash and not card Save or have a screenshot of Hotel’s Address or carry a visiting card of hotel (In countries with different language) – In countries like Japan, South Korea it is better to have a screenshot of the hotel’s address just in case you don’t find way back Have more than one way to access money- Don’t be dependent on just one credit/forex Card. Always have multiple ways to access your money Be broad minded and respect cultures Always carry your snacks or some food to munch Store your luggage in cloak rooms of your hotel in case you are checking in early or your flight is late than the check out time Make most of the city and benefit by taking local walking guided tours Use local transport like metros, buses instead of taxis to have a taste of their actual life Research nearest station and some information about local transport to save money- like buying oyster cards for London Metro will be cheaper  Remember or take a photo of the exit-no of metro stations Buy weekly pass or 3-day tickets instead of single journey tickets Look for nearby places from city you are visiting so you can visit them in a day tour Shop in the country’s famous local brands for more variety Never reveal all your travel plans to hotel staff/ taxi drivers or your guides If your trip is of long duration, like more than 20 days you can use common launderettes for washing your clothes Many hotels in south east Asia provide unlimited complimentary bottled water in room Many hotels provide free shuttle buses to famous tourist spots or popular malls Booking an hotel with a package which includes breakfast will be more reasonable And lastly, carry a copy or your passport and copy of your country’s address proof with you all times Like this article? Tips To Use Before Leaving On A Journey

 1. Plan and book well in advance- Decide the destination in advance and pre-book the flights and accommodation like 2-3 months beforehand to crack the best deal and get cheap rates. Usually, the more late you get, the pricier the overall trip is going to get. One can save from like 15- 20 % by making advance booking  2.Book a Flight which lands around 4 to 5 pm in the evening cope with jetlag – Try and book flights which will land around 4 – 5 pm in the evening. By the time you reach hotel and have dinner, your mind is set to sleep as its night time. It will help your body to deal with jetlag. This will help you set the routine faster and adjust to the new time easily  3. Check for immigration/visa rules and apply accordingly- Once you decide on your destination, find out the immigration and visa rules. Apply for visa in advance. There could be heavy applications at the Embassy or unexpected changes in rules which cause delay in the entire process.Usually applying for a visa is extremely easy with all clear documents. But if you are not confident will suggest to use an agent for the process.  4. Pre-book inflight food- Once your visa is processed, make sure to pre-book your inflight food. Particularly when you’re a vegetarian or have special dietary requirements like low sugar food, lactose intolerant food Etc. Many times, vegetarian food is not available in sufficient quantities if not prebooked. Also, you can prebook your seats together with your friends and families. Usually majority of airlines charge an extra these days but few still provide them free of charge. Or can leave it while checking in online or leave it for last minute at the airport.  5. Keep some handy cash – Always keep some cash in the country’s currency which you are visiting. Just in case there is an unforeseen situation and some kind of emergency, you should be prepared. Also, few local markets in many countries accept only cash and not cards.  6. Choose hand luggage wisely– Hand luggage like backpacks must be waterproof. In case your purse is not waterproof, make sure your passport and all-important documents are covered in plastic. This is an important point as small mishaps like spilling coffee do happen!  7. Before landing – do some research on nearby grocery stores and restaurants from your accommodationAt all times, I suggest people to note the nearby restaurants and grocery from your accommodation. You don’t want to spend time on looking for reviews and its location when you reach the destination  8. Carry a pair of extra set of light weight clothes in your cabin- You might think a need to skip this and feel it unnecessary but folks, trust me don’t be mistaken.Once on a really long flight, while serving hot coffee the air-hostess spill it over me. It creating an extremely awkward situation. Tissues and Towels were of no help. But luckily to my rescue, I had an extra pair of pants in my cabin luggage  9. Carry some extra medicines in your cabin luggage just in case there are flight delays or you miss the connecting flight- Typically, people do carry small medicine kits but never carry extra. Mishaps like delays and skipping the connecting flight with long flyovers can make you fall short of your regular medicines. So, make sure you have just a few extras  10. Carry copy of all-important documents including travel insurance and medicine prescriptions- Never Forget to carry copies of all-important documents. These include visa, passport, accommodation proofs, return flight tickets, travel insurance, forex receipt (if carrying cash) and prescriptions for your medicines in your cabin luggage.  11. Make a note of phone numbers of your close friends and families (other than your cell phone)- I don’t want to sound pessimistic but if you lose or forget your cell phone, you might be left with zero contact with your dear ones. It’s a good practice to just make a note of few phone numbers of your friends and family.  12. In the list of numbers, add your travel insurance’s emergency number – Make sure to add the global emergency number of your travel insurance, lest you end up in an unwanted situation or face some kind of emergency/injury during your trip it will be easy to tackle the situation in these times  13. Keep all carry-on liquids (toiletries like cream, perfumes) in a transparent bag beforehand – Quite often, I have seen people struggling with their toiletries while removing from their cabin bags and placing them in a tray. This does cause delay making the overall security checking process slow. Also there is a chance to loose your items in the tray. So always, place all lip balms, lipsticks, perfumes, creams and any liquid/gel item in transparent Bag. Make sure all of them are under 100ml. At the Security, just place this bag in the tray, that’s it. Some Airports will provide their own transparent bags, indicating the total liquid capacity allowed, with each under 100ml.  14. While packing your suitcases, make a list of things to carry- It does happen with everyone, in rush you forget to carry some stuff which might be important on your journey. So never forget to make a list of things to carry to make it easy  15. On your trip, make sure you have more than one way to access your money- Every time you travel, make certain that you have numerous ways to access your money abroad. For example, have some cash, along with credit card or forex cards so there’s always an option in case you face any glitches while spending.  16. Research some basic cultural manners  and know-how of the country you are visiting  and always respect   them  – Do some basic research (example how people greet) of the cultural manners of the country you are visiting as  for some countries they are of extreme value

Choose your destination wisely – Currently many countries have changing travel restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, hence choose your destination wisely. Some countries like Dubai are open and welcoming tourists again.  Book your flights with precaution- It can be a difficult to get stuck in a new country especially not knowing when situation would change. Book flights calculating and checking their cancellation and changing policies. Also research if there are any other carrier options providing the same return route. Few are keeping middle seat empty to maintain the social distancing norm and mandatory Covid tests before leaving and landing. Do cross check with the airlines you are travelling with, for clarifications Check the timing to reach Airport for onsite tests and protocol- Few Airports have requested passengers to reach atleast 4 hours before the flight for few protocols to be carried out on the airport. These include sanitizing your bags, temperature checks, checking your PCR (Corona test reports) etc. It will be advisable to confirm the timings prior leaving to avoid last minute rush Limit Your Contact with humans and surfaces- Not just on board but Be Careful while navigating to and from Airport. Do check the quarantine specifications of both the places where you are travelling and the place where you are going to return back. Carry on Sanitizer Liquid 100ml and Disinfectant Spray 100ml – Very few International and domestic flights have allowed each passenger to carry 12 ounces=350ml of sanitizer liquid. While majority airlines are still following the  original rule with a 100ml of sanitizer and disinfectant sprays allowed on board.
